Seven Steps to Social Media Strategy for Small Business Branding

By Kyoko Tanaka on Jul 28, 2011 at 05:00 AM in in Small Business Marketing, Branding, Graphic Design Branding

There are seven basic steps that you are going to want to follow if you want to develop a social media strategy. What you are going to find as you go through these steps is that a lot of them have to do with small business branding and how important this branding is to the success of your business.

First and foremost, you should have a goal for your strategy. If you do not have a goal for your social media and small business branding, then you are wandering around aimlessly without a solid plan and this is not going to get you anywhere. Second, you should know that less is more when it comes to choosing social media platforms. There are several hundred different digital platforms, so take your time and figure out which ones are actually going to benefit your small business branding goals.

Third, you should understand the essential nature of content when it comes to social media marketing. Be prepared to feed this “content beast” on a regular basis in order for your social media strategy to work. Fourth, make sure that your social media is easy to find and that everything is properly linked together so that people can find all of your various profiles and pages. Next, make sure that you are constantly promoting your social media websites, because constant promotion goes far in benefiting your business strategy. The more that you promote your social media pages, the better your social media strategy is going to perform for you.

The sixth step is one of the most important. You absolutely have to work on engaging your audience. You should be asking questions and you should be discussing key issues in your industry or your business to get your audience talking. You should be creating an open loop that is going to encourage your readers to respond. Finally, you want to consider how to market your website for social media through the long haul. Don’t just market for a little while and then give up. Instead, plan to blog, tweet or otherwise feed your social media pages content for a good long time for the best results.
