Keys to Positioning Your Brand Online and Offline

By Kyoko Tanaka on Aug 19, 2011 at 05:00 AM in in Branding, Graphic Design Branding, Logo, Small Business Marketing, Website Design

Branding is an essential part of creating a profitable business, because it is going to allow customers to recognize and remember your business, which is going to create brand loyalty and the ability to build a real successful customer base. Knowing this, you should put as much time and energy as you possibly can into developing and positioning your brand not only online but offline as well.

The first key that you are going to want to keep in mind is that you cannot have a separate brand offline from your brand online. If you are selling the same things or running the same business in both places, then you absolutely need to create one solid brand that you can utilize for both purposes. This means that you should have a single brand name, a single logo, a single color scheme and other cohesive elements to create one brand that you can really put your attention into selling. If your brand is not cohesive across all platforms, then you are doing something wrong.

The next key to positioning your brand both online and offline is to do what it takes to stand out. Building brand equity is absolutely essential if you want to sell more and get a better price for what you sell in comparison to the competition. Brand equity is all about what people are willing to pay for a brand name item over what they are willing to pay for something that is generic. For example, what are you willing to pay for a bottle of Coca Cola because it is a brand name product, over what you are willing to pay for the generic, no-name grocery store brand?

Branding is absolutely essential when it comes to selling your business and performing well in your arena. If you want to do well in a competitive industry, then you have to do more than sell a superior product or service. You also have to build a strong, positive brand around that product or service so that customers can remember you and can remember the positive experiences that they have had with you in the past. Building a loyal customer base is absolutely essential to your company’s success.
